Nine months old....already?

Here are a few of the pics of our session with Jodie. Lucas looks like such a stud in his hat. My dad thinks he looks like a little 1940's baby. He is getting so big and does something new everyday. He is doing the funniest thing with his eyebrows lately. I tried to get a picture of it today, but no cooperation. He did cooperate for Jodie though, they are amazing!

Safety first!

This morning was all about safety. We went to the dealership because my tire pressure was low in my left rear tire. There was a huge screw in my tire, thank god I went in because Lucas and I are going to D-town this weekend. I would have hated to have a flat on the hwy with him in tow. He was quite the entertainment for all the old ladies in the waiting room, he was his usual charming self. Just jabbering away and they were loving it. It is so amazing what a baby does to people, it brings out the best. Then we went down to the Mehlville fire station were we had the car seat checked. We bought a larger seat for Lucas, since he is a big boy now and it just did not seem right. It moved a lot and did not seem safe. They do safety checks on seats and we lucked out today because we got two young cute fireman to wait on us. They were very nice and helpful and the seat is much more stable and I feel better. It was quite the highlight of my day, talking to two studs in uniform. To bad I did not have some of my single lady friends in tow. We have to buy another one today so whoever wants to go with me next time, call!
I am typing this in the car on my laptop, Lucas is sleeping in the comfy new car seat and then we are off to lunch and shopping.
I will post pics tomorrow of my little Batman.

Duh....!!!

Hello, duh!!! My last post was titled retail therapy, but I failed to even go there. I got caught up talking about the gym and childcare germs that I forgot to talk about my much needed shopping excursion. After the gym I went to Macy's and got some killer boots, a great pair of jeans for a awesome deal and some cute sweaters. I just love Macy's, they have the best deals. Anyway, my point is go to Macy's, they are having a killer shoe sale! Happy Shopping!

Retail therapy:)

Last night when Billy got home, I did the hand off and I was out the door. I needed a break and just some me time. I went to the gym for the first time in a while. I put the headphones on and watched Ugly Betty and ran on the treadmill for 45 minutes. It was heaven, I felt so good afterwards. I checked out the childcare there to see what it was like. I am a little freaked out about taking him there, but I am going to give it a try soon. I want to wait until after his surgery and when he is healed. I don't want him to get sick, and I am sure it is a germfest in there. If he has any kind of upper respiratory or even a runny nose, he can't have surgery. I am hoping to keep him healthy for the next two weeks. Cross your fingers, it seems like everybody is sick.
Looking forward to heading to Decatur this weekend. It has been forever since we have made a trip up, since my cousins wedding in August. My mom and Al are having a hayride and bonfire so it should be fun. I am going to bundle Lucas up and he is going to have a ball with all his cousins.
Everyone have a great weekend!

Holy Batman...jumping bean!

This is our little jumping bean, he can now get up and hold onto the rails and jump. We just lowered his bed a few days ago and putting him to bed since has been a challenge. We have our regular bedtime routine with dinner, bath, bottle and bed. I usually give him his bottle while I rock him to sleep. After he has his bottle and is asleep,I put him in his crib and he wakes right up. He then starts jumping. It is like he knows when I put him in bed and then he thinks its time to play. Maybe his sleep schedule is changing and he will be staying up later, but this kid gets a sudden burst of energy. This is a challenge for me because this is my time to get stuff done. I stayed up until midnight last night just doing odds and ends. Getting stuff done during the day now is hard, he is constantly pulling up and I know the one time I turn away he will fall and have an injury.
We went to get his Halloween costume last night. Lucas got scared at the store, there was some gross mannequin that made weird noises and his brain popped out of his head. He just stared at it and then puckered up and started crying. Billy then started putting on all the masks and got some giggles out of him. We went to two stores and ended up getting him the Batman costume. We put the mask on him to see if he would tolerate it and he just grunted. It is pretty cute and not to confining.

Soooo Big!

This is him playing on the floor with all his toys. We have to really pad the floors with blankets and I use an foam pad. He will have to wear a helmet when he starts walking , we have all hardwood and tile floors.

We say this all the time to Lucas and he loves to throw his hands up in the air. Here are a few pics I took today, Isn't he getting so big. I think he is looking a little more like his daddy. Whatcha think?

Go Packers!

Lucas finally fits into the Packer outfit Pa Pa Terry and Grandma Sherry got him. He looks so cute and he got lots of compliments today at stroller class. He is getting so big! He is a great eater, loves chicken and veggies and he is feeding himself his snack puffs. He still refuses to hold his bottle, he can hold and drink out of his sippy cut by himself but when it comes down to business he wants nothing to do with his bottle. I think with him being such a good eater and drinking out of his cup so good, weaning him off the bottle will be a little easier I hope. They want him off the bottle at one year and that is only THREE months away. I can't believe I will be planning his first birthday soon. I have some ideas and I think we will keep it small and simple....yeah right, not if Billy has anything to do with it. He wants to buy him a toy every Sunday and I have to tell him that WE HAVE NO ROOM! He is so spoiled, but can you really spoil them to much at this age?

Big hugs to my BFF Kim who had some major dental surgery today. I am so proud of her for getting this ball rolling and I can't wait to see that pretty smile again on that beautiful face. PROPS to you KG! LYLAS:)

Can't wait to have a girls night tonight, I love to entertain! I wish my house was a little bigger because I would do it more often, but sometimes it feels so small. Someday we will get something bigger, but for now I like my little one.

Gotta go do a few more things before he wakes up! Peace out, and lets hope for no hangovers for the pumpkin patch tomorrow.

Bunco..Drunko!

I am hosting our first bunco night on Friday. I rounded up some of my old bunco group, girls from work and friends of friends. I love having a reason to get together and have a girls night. If you don't have it planned every month, you wont do it. We get so busy with our lives and kids that we put social time at the bottom of the list..and God knows we need that! So I am excited and just trying get my house in order and clean before Friday. Lucas went to bed early but has woke up three times since I put him down. He is getting a little cold, so he is all stuffed up and I think he has a hard time breathing out his nose. I have managed to get the kitchen floor clean, basement clean and laundry done...now I am going to catch up on some Tivo.

Driving..already?

Lucas is obsessed with steering wheels. Billy started letting him stand up in the front seat of the Hummer and play with the steering wheel and now when we try to put him in his car seat he throws a fit wanting to get up in the front seat. This pic cracks me up, he is so thrilled. How easy we can please them with ordinary things.

How was your Monday? Mine was busy, starting at 4:30 when Lucas decided to wake up...yes I said 4:30! He has been fighting sleep at bedtime and waking up so early. Not sure what that is all about, but I hope he gets back into some routine. He is finally sleeping and my husband is snoring on the couch, so I am going to catch up on some Tivo and go to sleep. Here's to hoping he sleeps till six!

I'm back!

Wow...what a crazy week it has been. Sorry for being MIA, just out of town for a few days and then trying to get back into the swing of things. The trip to KC was a blast, Tina Turner was awesome. She put on a terrific show, she looks amazing. I am so glad that I went and I had a blast with all my coworkers. I am so lucky to work with such amazing people, we are like family. It makes it so much more enjoyable to go to work. I have been with Dr. West for nine years, it has flown by. They have seen my life change in all ways, good and bad and they have always been there for me.
On the Lucas front, he finally has his two bottom teeth poking thru. He has been a little more fussy, but he still is rocking his charming personality.

We had some family pics taken by Jodie on Saturday, wait until you see this hat I got him to wear. It is a little newsboy cap, looks like a golfer hat. Too damn cute! He looks so adorable. I will post the pics as soon as she gets them to us.

We went to the pumpkin patch today but it was too hot. I can't believe I am saying that two weeks into October. We have plans to go again Saturday so I am hoping for more fall weather. Still undecided on the Halloween outfit, will get that done this week. Here's to Monday and getting some shit done!!

Here we go again!

We got our early x-mas present this week from my day and step mom, a backpack hiker for Lucas. This thing is amazing, we love it. He was not so sure about it when we first put him in it, we had some adjusting of straps and so on, so he was not liking that so much. When we got to the trail and put him in, he had a huge grin on his face. His face said it all, this is so COOL and my dad is awesome! We hiked for at least an hour and a half, I think the trail is three miles. It was gorgeous, it did not seem like we were in Missouri when we got up on the bluffs overlooking the Mermac River. It was breathtaking. When we got down on the river trail a group of people were horseback riding and Lucas got to see his first horse. The people were so nice, they stopped so he could get a good look. Lucas was a trooper yet again, he is such good boy. I cannot say it enough, he just goes with the flow.

It was another awesome weekend with my family. Sometimes I really feel overwhelmed and stressed, but today I just put the worries under the rug and enjoy the beautiful day. Life is too short and I am truly blessed!

Short work week this week...did I tell you all that my boss(who totally rock..luv ya doc:) is taking the whole office to K.C to see Tina Turner..oh yeah. We are taking an R.V on Tuesday at 11, road tripping to KC and then doing some shopping and the concert is on Wed. I am so glad I decided to go, I was almost not going too, but mama needs to have some fun. I am sure there will be some drunken tears over missing my Lucas( oh and you too Billy:}), but I will survive. Watch out K.C , here we come and we are a crazy group.

Kissable..Kissable..!

I love this picture! Don't you just want to pinch those cheeks. I love those dimples, his scrunched up nose and those eyes will just break your heart. I just had to post this real quick, I took it this morning before stroller class. The hat is so cute, garage sale find from Ma Ma Nancy! Love it!

What a beautiful day:)

What a beautiful day today! The sky was clear and blue and the temperature was perfect! Just a perfect fall day. I enjoyed my day with Lucas and we spent a lot of time outside. I keep thinking that pretty soon the weather will be cold and yucky and we will be forced to stay inside, so we are making the most of it. We got our early x-mas gift from Pa Pa Terry and grandpa Sherry yesterday, an new backpack hiker and I can't wait to hit the trails on Sunday.

As I am writing tonight I am listening to the debate...wow! This race is so intense and downright scary. I am so worried about this country and where we are headed! I just hope that our economy will bounce back! I say it all the time..."it is scary out there!". I hope that whoever gets into office that there is a change in our future. I think I feel so much more strongly now that I have Lucas and I worry about his future. Anyway..enough about politics, I am sure we are all ready for this to be over.

I was reading Jodie's blog and she was talking about the Oprah yesterday with the mom that left her little girl in the car and she died. She stated that we all need to slow down and that we all try to do so much...and in her case it turned out deadly. I know it put me in perspective, I have had alot of things on my mind the last few days and I almost ran a red light with Lucas in the car today. OMG...I freaked, I think that is why I just forgot about the housework and went outside and SLOWED DOWN! We all get overwhelmed, but we cannot always be perfect and our house doesn't always have to be clean. Enjoy our children..they grow up so fast and these days are priceless!

We have teeth!!

Finally..Finally...I see some teeth coming in. Lucas actually let me look in his mouth yesterday and I see is two bottom teeth trying to poke thru. I can't wait to see what his little teeth are going to look like.
Today we are going to hang out and run some errands. I want to take him outside today and enjoy the weather. Hopefully we will get a long walk in, I want him to check out all the leaves falling. I have 4 loads of laundry to put away. I always was so good about putting laundry away, but now I hate it. I feel like I do good by just getting it done and folded.
I am excited about our plans tomorrow. My uncle Tommy is coming in town and we are going to hang out tomorrow night and Aunt Brenda flies in late and we will visit with her Saturday morning. They have not seen Lucas since May so I am excited for them to see how big he is now.
That is about it here, not much going on in the Johns household this week. Just laying low and enjoying the first days of fall.
