New shoes..and other random pictures

Today we took Lucas to the shoe store to get his little fat feet measured for some shoes. We got him these new Stride Rites and they are so cute. They look so big on his feet and he wasn't quite sure about walking in them at first, but he got used to them pretty quick. He is walking all over and has some bumps and bruises on his noggin to prove it.

Are those the cutest bibs ever, or what?

What a face! He is so funny and has such a sense of humor. He loves to make people laugh and knows when they think he is funny. He is a little performer.

My absolute favorite face, his little scrunchy face. As you can see his four teeth are all finally through.

Mr. Hollywood

This picture cracks me up! He always wants my glasses and tries to put them on. I put them on him and snapped this shot before he ripped them off. My cousin Jessie calls these my "spousal abuse glasses" because they are so big and cover my whole face.

Pictures from our lazy day

Playing peek-a-boo with mommy and grandma. He loves this choo-choo from Pa Pa Terry and Grandma Sherry. He loves to push it across the living room.
Watching his daddy shovel snow. He thought it was pretty funny when his daddy would throw snow balls at the window.

Hi daddy, I want to play in the snow.

Snow day!

We have a snow day today! My boss called me this morning and called the day off of work and we are staying in and hanging out. I did run to Target yesterday and bought him some snow pants and a new hat and gloves. If it warms up we will bundle up and play a little in the snow. My mil brought over a couple of sleds that she had and I hope we can take this little man sledding sometime before all the snow melts. What is really cool is that my mom came in to babysit today and tomorrow, so we get to spend some time with her today also. Anyway, little man is taking a nap and I am getting laundry done. Looking forward to staying in my jammies and laying low!

Cold, snowy and getting organized!

It is soooo cold today and it has been snowing most of the day. We were up early and off to breakfast at 7:30 this morning and then hit the grocery store and were home by 9:30. It is crazy how much we had done before most people were even out of bed. Billy took Lucas to his dads this afternoon and I have been getting some major organizing done. I have went through all clothes and baby items and organized them in tubs and labeled them. It makes me want another one, looking at all the little clothes and baby toys. Pretty soon we will be trying for another one, but I think I am going to enjoy some of the summer first. Maybe by the end of the summer, but I have been having some major baby fever latly. We shall see! I have also cleaned my refrigerator, cleaned up the pantry and fixed our dinner. I feel so cleansed! I love the purging of items and starting with a clean slate. Don't you just wish we could do that in our life sometimes. To top all that off, I also went to the gym! I feel really good about my accomplishments today. I know that when Lucas and Billy walk through the door all of this will be undone. Oh well, I love my boys!

Crying it out! This boy has some lungs!

Lucas had his one year check up yesterday. He is a healthy growing boy weighing in at 22lbs and 6oz and 30 inches long. He is 25% in weight, 65% in height and 80%in head circumference. He still has a big head. He is taking only one bottle a day now at bedtime and the binky needs to be gone by 18 months. We are now working on getting him to sleep all night in his own bed. He did great up until he started teething and waking up about 3 months ago and we would put him in bed with us. We also got into the bad habit of putting him to sleep in our bed and then putting him in his bed later. We have totally fudged this whole bedtime thing up. Last night he went down in his own bed and woke about two times, but not for long and he went back to sleep pretty quickly. Nap time is another story. For the past 30 minutes this kid has been crying and crying in his crib. He is so tired, we have had a busy morning and he is exhausted. The doctor said that they can cry up to an hour and that is ok. She also said do not go in and rock or pick them up, just let them get used to it and eventually they will fall asleep. This is really hard for me and yesterday he did fall asleep. When he woke up his eyes were all puffy from crying so much. I need to get through the next few days without caving. Billy is so against this "crying it out" thing, it makes him furious. He doesn't have to sleep next to him every night and worry about rolling over on him . Yes, my husband is an loud and awful snorer and sleeps on the couch the majority of the time. I am ok with it, I need my sleep and we have come to terms with that. Anyway, I think he may be getting up and I am going to take some Tylenol and maybe take a nap myself. I have some pics and videos to share, I will post later. OMG...I think he if FINALLY asleep!

Happy Birthday Lucas...I can't believe how fast a year goes!

His new scrunch face! Feeding himself some birthday mashed potatoes.
We opened the rest of his gifts from his party.
Feeding his daddy some cake!

Today at 5:01 am Lucas turned one. A year ago today I was groggy from being up for 24 hours, but full of adrenaline and excitement. I remember just wanting to hold him and just look at him for hours. I could not believe that he was here and that he was MINE! He was sooooo tiny and I called him my little peanut. It is hard to remember him being so little, now he is such a buster! I can't wait to see all the new changes and things he will be doing this next year. He is taking a few steps and just cruising everywhere. He is really funny and has the cutest laugh ever! He is going to be pretty laid back and probably the class clown like his daddy. I love him so much and can't wait to see what the next year holds for him.

What a party!

He looks a little shell shocked here. What are all these people doing here!

He looks so tired!
LOTS of gifts! Some really cool stuff.

I absolutley LOVED how his cake turned out. So cute.

Lucas' party was a success and a HOUSE FULL!!!! There had to be like 40 people or more in my house at one time and 20 of them were kids. Luckily the weather was some what warm and the kids were able to go out back and play with the dogs. I was frazzled, stressed and at one point I wanted to get in my car and leave. Lucas did not have a good morning nap and was tired and crabby. He was not to interested in opening gifts and did not get into his cake at all. He was still a little drained from being sick and I think he was a little overwhelmed at all the people and chaos around him. I am so grateful to have such wonderful friends and family that all came out to help celebrate his first birthday. I didn't get to talk to many people, I was running around like a crazy person all afternoon. We still have only had him open half of his gifts. Tomorrow is his actual birthday and we will let him open the rest and have some leftover cake.

I'm HUNGRY mom!

Lucas has not eaten solid food since Monday night at dinner(which he barfed on the way home), and has been keeping fluids down for two days. His ped. said to keep him on fluids/ pedialite/formula and then today some solids. Last night Billy was eating some chicken noodle soup and Lucas was having a FIT! I think he is better, his stomach is just a mess and not quite right yet. I am just know eating normal food, even two days after I was over it I didn't have an appetite at all. Man, he really wanted some of that soup! Billy broke the rules and have him about a dozen spoonfuls and he kept it down...yayyyy! We r going to have some bananas and cream of wheat for breakfast and just some bland foods today. I think his energy will be better once he gets some real food. That stomach flu is a bitch!
I am so excited about seeing my new baby niece today. She is just over a month old and I have scoured this house over and over! I called them last night to tell them that we we're getting over the stomach flu and that everybody is on the mend. I think everything will be fine. We may take a trip out to the mall or something, I really think that Lucas has a little cabin fever too. He keeps pointing outside, so if he does good with his breakfast and is acting not so crabby then maybe I will bundle him up. Another thing that I think is adding to his extreme crabbiness is that his one front tooth has not popped in yet, and he has been chewing on his paci and fingers like crazy.
So I am still having this party, I have worked hard and it is his first birthday!

We're getting there:)

Billy and I are feeling much better, Lucas is struggling. He has kept all fluids down and formula, but every time I think he is ready for some solid food, he pukes. Today he is acting like my Lucas, actually wanting to play with his toys and cruise around. He still is a little clingy, but he is much better. I am positive that he will be in good shape for his party. My MIL came over today so I could run errands for the party and do a few things around the house. I feel better and I am close to getting all my cleaning and disinfecting done. Lucas' Doctor thinks that he is on the mend and we have 48 more hours to get him better and he should be good for the party. I was telling my MIL that at least he had some good meat on his bones and that it wont hurt him to much if he loses a few pounds. I actually set him on the scale and he has only lost like 3/4 of a pound. I am going the laundry mat tonight to wash the puke covered comforters and I am actually looking forward to it. I get one hour by myself to read my book. I actually hate laundry mats, but in this situation it will do.

Pukefest...2009

We are the lucky family that got hit with this nasty stomach flu that is going around. Lucas started the ball rolling on Sunday night when he woke up in the middle of the night with explosive diarrhea. Poor guy, he was acting normal on Monday, just pooping all day until he barfed on the car ride home. I also got sick on Monday afternoon, and had to pull over on the side of the rode and barf. Luckily I had a paper bag in my car. Not so good when I went to take it out and the bottom busted open and barf went all over. Not to fun puking and cleaning up puke in the freezing cold. It was a rough 24 hours, between a puking baby(which is so pathetic..poor Lucas) and fighting with Billy for the bathroom, changing sheets and jammies and no sleep at all Monday night. I did not work Tuesday, and my awesome boss took care of my day today. Which is good because my MIL has it and Lucas is still very puny today. He has been sleeping a lot and today has actually managed to keep some fluids down. I have to get this boy better and juiced up before Saturday! A lot to do in the next few days and lots of Lysol to buy.

Leaf is still unturned...for now!

My leaf is still unturned! I hope I can keep it together this week. Lucas' party is on Saturday and I have tons of cleaning and other things to do, BUT I am going to take it one day at a time. I have a one year old, people do understand if your house is not spotless. I need like a whole weekend to just deep, down on my knees, scrub the heck out of my house. Maybe this spring!
Lucas' pictures turned out awesome, of course. Check out Jodie's blog jodifedtypepad.com. Give me some feedback on what you think!

Keeping it real!

I am turning over a new leaf! I am "keeping in real" from now on. Keeping it real about the things that really matter in life. Not the laundry or keeping the house clean or just keeping up with everyone else. I want to enjoy and love my husband unconditionally and not try to change who he is and try to correct his behavior all the time. I want to let my little boy make a mess and play with him w/o constintly picking up after him. I want to make plans and spend more time with my family and the people that I love the most. I want these things so bad and it will be a struggle at times, but I am going to start living my life for the good things. I just spent two days with my family and cried and grieved for my cousin and I just started thinking about how short and precious life really is. My heart is broken for my cousin and aunt for losing him so young and for the pain that they are going through. I hugged my dad, mom and brother a little tighter when I left and I really am not coping with this very well. It is so hard to see the people you love cry and sob, ecspecially my brother. He is 6ft 5 and a big boy and to see him cry like a baby just broke my heart in two. I don't understand why God took him so early, but I am choosing to learn from his tragic death. Love and cherish those around you and don't take life for granted. Keep in REAL!!!!

We are getting Lucas' one year shoots with Jodie today. Looking so forward to seeing her and having a little fun today. It is kind of gloomy here today, but we will make the most of it.

On a lighter note...some pics from vacation.

Lucas and his cousins, Tessa and Emma. Sunset on New years eve.
After a long day at the beach. This was on the boat ride back from the private beach. Mommy drank the beer of course.
Such a ham! He loved the waves and the sand.

This was at the kiddie pool at the resort. He loved the water and got excited every time we walked by the pool.

Lucas spent a lot of time in the backpacker. We walked the beach every morning and he would even take a nap in this thing. Billy got quite the workout lugging him around.

R.I.P Timmy:(

For those of you who don't know, my cousin Timmy passed away on New years day. Such a freak tragic accident and it really makes me think about how precious and short life can be. Timmy was a rocker and lover of music and just a kind, lighthearted person. Always fun to hang out with, quiet at times, but always friendly! You will be missed by so many people and I am sooo glad that I got to visit with you over Thanksgiving. I will miss you cuzzo and my heart is just broken:(
The family donated his organs and we know that he will live on somehow and that somebody is getting a new start at life. If you have never thought about organ donation, really think about it and let your family know your wishes.

Ola..from Mexico!

Having a great time here in P. Vallarta! The weather has been wonderful and Lucas is having a blast. He absolutly LOVES the water and has been a joy the whole time. We have hit the beach, taken a private yacht cruise, shopped the flea markets and have eaten some awesome food. The backpacker has been a blessing and I am so glad we brought it. All the mexican people here just love him and call him the "gerber baby" and my favorite "el grande be be"....lol! I can't believe I doubted how good he would be. The resort had a big New Years party here and some awesome fireworks...Billy was in heaven. Lucas and I missed the festivities early on, he fell asleep in the sling around 8 and we went back up in the room. Billy stayed out and had to many beers with his brother , but he needed it. Tomorrow is our last full day, I am ready to come home but not ready for the cold weather. I miss my puppies and my bed! Off to the pool!!!
